– operating between the tectonic and the conceptual –
We merge our architectural training with our passion for concrete to create unique and original objects that blur the line between figurative & abstract representations. Each design embodies a distinct narrative that is crafted thru analog & digital tools. In our formal and material explorations, we continuously search for novel methods to cast our ideas into concrete.
Our process merges multiple media: from conventional techniques of sketching, drawing, and casting to contemporary design and manufacturing technologies, such as computational modeling, digital simulation, and 3D printing. These tools empower our work to challenge traditional notions of art versus product design. While our objects can be massively produced, each is cast and finished by hand to attain a unique, individual identity.
Tándem Concreto is a collaborative-design partnership between two architects, Silvana Herrera and Armando Rigau.
